The history of the churches is a part of the settlement in Saxony.
So different the landscape and the development of life conditions in the several locations so different are the churches.
There are cathedrals as seats of bishops and as a clerical centre. There are churches in towns which became rich by the economic process and the citizens were able to build big and impressive churches with worthy interior. On the other hand there are rural locations where the people were poor and in this reason the churches are quit simple but solid in order to protect the inhabitants of a village when war or robbery took place.
